"Did they decide on a plan already!?" The Shinigami was now equal parts worried and excited. "Hey Kosuke! Thanks for the news. I'll seeya around!" She dashed off, skidding to a halt before she reached the edge. Hotaru twisted to look at Ryu, grinning her trademark flirty grin. "And welcome to the squad...!" She then proceeded to jump off, kicking off the wall as she fell to propell herself to a rooftop further down, cushioning her fall with Reiatsu with the landing of each successive leap 'till she reached the ground and broke off in a dead sprint back towards her HQ. Once there, she tracked down the blonde that had told Ryu to go get her.
"Aah! T-takahashi-san!" The startled shinigami squeaked as Hotaru nearly tackled her to the ground with a tight hug(Secret Takahashi-Style Technique #24 - Friendly Deathgrip!).
"Ehehe... my lovely little Kaze..." She purred, "I was told you have a message for me! Spill it!" The Seated Officer was eager to know what the hell was going on and would get the info in any way possible. Her favourite method just happened to be causing a scene even if she didn't quite need to.
"Aaaaahn! Hremsfeld-san wants to see you about something! A-about a new assignment! Please let me gooo!" She stuttered, blushing madly.
"Thanks, Kaze-chan~" She promptly released the flustered shinigami before bolting back off, making her way towards Razgriz' squad HQ while praying madly for some good news.

Ryu watched Hotaru leave and let out another sigh.
"Welcome back to Soul Society" He mumbled to himself.
Then despite all the chaos and confusion which had hit him in the few hours he had been back, he let a rare smile touch his lips.
"It's good to be home"
With that, he too started back towards Squad 9 HQ

Despite not being very good at detection (read: sucking at it), Razgriz could very easily when tell Hotaru was close. "Buzzcut-chaaaaaan!" The shrill voice piercing his eardrum brusquely brought the captain out of his all-too-short cooldown period, having reamed Galm out only three minutes prior. "You may come in, Hotaru," he began, still in his chair, ignoring the usage of "-chan" rather than "-taicho," "-san," or at least "-kun." He didn't stay there for long, however; Once Hotaru had closed the door, she starting walking towards the mat - only to stop, jump at Razgriz, and perform Secret Takahashi-Style Technique #24 for the second time that day. Chairs, it turns out, are far less stable than people. "Htaor, plsh: gt ff muh!" Protested Razgriz, unable to say "Hotaru, please: get off me!" through the Officer in question's chest; when his chair flipped backwards, the projectile kept going slightly longer than she intended, landing in a highly compromising position.
Once Hotaru brought both her legs onto the same side of his body and stood up, Razgriz followed suit, his head itching where her earrings had grazed him. However, she was pre-empted from asking about the mission by being informed that she already knew all the details about the plan due to "that circus of a meeting." This, however, had the unfortunate side-effect of wiping her ear-to-ear grin straight off her face. "First and foremost, at least to me, the Gotei 13 is a military organization. Therefore, you-"
"Am I getting taken off duty?" Hotaru interrupted, an unusual trace of dread in her voice.
"No. There are not enough available shinigami to do that. Instead, your punishment shall be much worse: you're going on a mission."
Pausing, he let his words sink in, and got a "...Huh? How is that a punishment?"
"Simple," he continued, "you're going with Galm."
When the protests and frustrated "come ON!"'s had finished, Razgriz continued fortifying the first line of discipline, re-stating the parts from Galm's speech about Tahoshi being the commander, the kiss-and-make-up part (laughing inside at it), and concluding with something completely different.
"Seriously though, Hotaru, what was that? In Juno's absence, you're essentially Squad Nine's captain, you should be setting an example. Sneaking into the meeting? Fine, whatever; like I said, you're basically acting captain, so you probably didn't even need to do that. I'm assuming you and Galm fought because she said something about Juno, and no I don't care what. Take challenges of honor and bring them to a more productive place; the training grounds literally were designed for combat, you could've gone all out and not been in trouble. What the hell happened."
During the monologue she was forced to endure, Hotaru had been getting increasingly angry that the person talking to her just didn't get it. There was no way to explain the pain of losing someone you care for in words, nor the effect it has on you, especially to someone who's never experienced it. "YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND!!" She screamed, her anger erupting into a feral screech, before breaking down into sobs and letting tears fall unchecked down her cheeks.
"Wrong."
"HOW?! You're nearly as isolated as you said Juno was! You talk, but you're always thinking about the next mission, how to get stronger, never just talking!
"I never learned some of the finer social graces. As for how, I'll tell you. I was a military man when I was alive, too, so that probably didn't help. I did make friends, though, or at least won my fellow pilot's respect. That included my captain, who once admitted I could probably give him a good fight. Long story short, he went rogue and I had to hunt him down. We ended up killing each other and let me tell you: I was pissed at him. Not only was I suddenly and completely bereft of life, but, during the fight, he took all the respect I'd had for him and shot it at me out of a gatling gun. He didn't even have the good manners to stop once he'd died; we fought while falling from above the clouds."
"My eyes," he continued, gesturing at them, "I actually got during that fight. I was quite literally seconds away from starting my Hollow transformation, I was so mad. He went all the way and was quickly killed again by the the guy who sent me here. My captain was my rival, true, but we were brothers-in-arms. Do not say I don't know what it's like to lose someone I care about. Dismissed."

"Excellent, Excellent!" Kyuuketsuki said, applauding Juno's victory over the adjuchas. Juno bowed as if she was in a play.
"You have only one thing left to do... You must defeat your Zanpakutoh spirit..." he said, as if it was nothing. Juno smiled wickedly, feeling as if she was at 100% strength. Kyuuketsuki raised a hand above her, and threw his fist into her stomach, sending her sliding backwards on the rocks. As Kyuuketsuki raised his hand again, it looked like he was holding something...
"Come Forth, Blitzschnell! Show us your speed!" He roared, slamming the item down into the ground, and then disappearing...
Juno opened her mouth in shock, she didn't hurt from his punch, but at the same time, she didn't really know what to expect from this.... In front of her, she saw the rock crack, as her own Zanpakutoh spirit arose from the ground.
"I cannot let you defeat me yet, Juno..." The power of her Zanpakutoh was immense, but the words didn't reach into Juno's subconcious mind... The evil, Hollow grip of Kyuuketsuki had wound itself around Juno's neck already, beginning to drain her mind away.

Laying in his bed, Ryu stared up at the cealing. He had met and talked to many of the members of his new squad already and was finaly taking the time to rest. While everyone here was polite they also all seemed to have dapened spirits, which was only natural for the state the squad was in.
While resting, Ryu thought about the new mission that was in the making, wondering were he would be in it. While his knowledge of varies hollows might come in handy for the team sent to Hueco Mundo, they also might need him here to help protect Soul Society while the team that would be sent to try to recover Captain Breyer was away.
"So much for the vacation I was hoping to get when i returned" He said to himself. Sooner or later the higher ups would let him know were he was to go so he was just going to make the best use of the time he had right know.
With that thought he roled over and went straight to sleep.

Others may have been able to sleep, but not one Galm Ingram. Her anger at having to be be with that imbecile Hotaru, having outlasted (and overpowered) her relief at going on a mission instead of scrubbing toilets with her toothbrush, needed to be let out now. What better way than by going to the practice fields and annihilating some targets?
Unfortunately, the targets on the field were not designed for repeated usage, and so quickly broke. The fact that they were designed for novices learning how to shoot lightning and not skilled users throwing around purple fireballs like they were going out of style, of course, had absolutely nothing to do with it.
As much as she was enjoying the distraction and mental exercise, the mage knew she needed to leave soon, or else it would be- "Midnight is not the time to be practicing that loudly, Ms. Ingram," the caretaker said suddenly, causing the spellcaster to jump into the air and spin around, then wobble in an effort to win the fight against gravity. Leaving more embarrassed than anything else, the officer slunk back to headquarters, climbed into bed, tried to sleep, and wanted to avoid being useless the next morning.

The Night went by rather uneventfully. Stars shone in the dark night sky, and the single Moon, modelled on the real heavenly body hung like a puppet on a string. Rikka and Aki had since returned to Seireitei (after much running around on the houses of Rukongai, a pack of dogs in tow). And Tahoshi, of course, was sat on his bed, still considering the team he was going to take.
"Not much point thinking about it now..." he said, falling asleep instantly. There was no sign of the spiritual sun rising yet, so there was still time.
The Morning to come would be an important one... The mission to Hueco Mundo was to begin. The technology department had been working with the Special Projects assignment, and figured out a way to get into Hueco Mundo without being noticed. This would be a run-in, get the girl, run-out mission. Almost like a damsel in distress, although this damsel was definitely not in distress.... She probably would be by the time they were ready to go home though...
Mission members: Tahoshi, Galm, Hotaru, Rikka. Small mission, small team

Juno took a half-step back, eyes traveling over the sleek form before her. "Blitzshnell...." she breathed, lips twitching into a grin as her eyes met with the glowing blue of the great while wolf that was towering above her.
"You need to restrain yourself!" his powerful voice echoed as he easily flashed away from Juno's first attack - a rather straightforward yet powerful swing of both of her blades. "Eheheh This is great! You're so fast....!" her voice was raspy, eyes wide as she turned to face the spirit yet again. In a split second, she was swinging her blades at him once more, but he was just as fast, if not faster, than she was and easily caught the metal between his teeth, flinging her with a powerful twitch of his head. Juno crashed into the ground, barely regaining her senses to scurry away before one of Blitzshnell's huge paws stomped down where she had just been.
Their flash dance continued on, each launching attacks and dodging the other's with blaring speed. So fast were their movements that Kyuuketsuki was even having a hard time keeping track of the wolf and the Shinigami Captain.
It soon came to a halt, though... Blitzshnell looked from his left flank back to young Juno, who was doubled over and breathing heavily, blood dripping down both of her swords, then back to his flank, where crimson was rapidly seeping from two parallel gashes.
"Looks like I am faster than you..." she wheezed, slowly standing back to her full height. Blitzshnell bared his fangs, growling loudly before charging forward swiftly, throwing his full weight into a body check that sent the tiring shinigami flying. He followed after, pinning Juno high up against a tree with both of his paws.
"You want my power that badly? Then catch me!" In a flash, he was gone, Juno barely managing to land on her feet. As soon as she had her balance, she gave chase. It was a long process, but she managed to catch up to the spirit of her Zanpakutoh. He sat on the ground, staring up at her. It seemed almost like he was grinning. He was gone within seconds of Juno catching sight of him, though. And so the chase continued, Juno getting closer and closer to the large wolf each time that she managed to catch up to him.
The Captain had long since lost track of how long she had been pursuing Blitzshnell, but it was soon to end. In a large clearing, the two were staring each other down. With a purposeful movement, Juno re-sheathed both of her swords, eyes never leaving the white beast before her. He was pawing the ground idly, his long tail swaying about behind him. Then, they both stopped, the two staring each other down.
The stillness was broken when Juno bowed respectfully, the wolf lowering his head in a similar gesture. And with that... the final showdown between them began.
Juno appeared at his side and reached for him, the swift spirit twisting just out of her reach. The process repeated many many times, each time the Captain getting closer to cornering him. More often now her fingers would graze against his fur. Each time this happened, she started pushing herself harder, her body currently not feeling the effects of her overworking herself... Must be the adrenaline.
Grinning, she flashed behind him and feinted a reach for his leg, at the same moment as him, and again as soon as it was possible to bring herself in front of the wolf, her hands lashing out to clamp down on his muzzle before he could even register what had happened. Her feet lightly hit the ground, her weight forcing Blitzshnell to lower his head slightly.
With a soft snort, he shook his head and pulled away, sitting back on his haunches. "I would have never imagined that you could use two Shunpo in such rapid succession... You are definitely ready..." He once again bowed his head, Juno doing the same. Her legs then gave way, her body no longer able to take the strain that it had been subjected to anymore. Blitzshnell nudged her softly with his snout "Rest... Kami knows you really need it..." With that, he slowly started to fade from her sight.

After getting back from the meeting with Razgriz, Hotaru had once again placed herself in solitary confinement, sulking.
"I don't believe they're making me go on a mission with HER!" she moaned, punching her pillow once before collapsing on top of it and rolling onto her back. With a sigh, she folded her hands behind her head and stared blankly at the ceiling. Sighing, she wrenched onto her side and pulled a blanket up to cover her bare shoulders and closed her eyes. She figured the sooner she went to sleep, the sooner they'd be in Hueco Mundo, and the sooner they'd.... she'd have Juno back....

As any psychologist would say, people with a lot of stress don't sleep well, an assertion backed by war veterans and telemarketers worldwide. It continues to be true, even after death, this time being supported by a certain restless someone, a someone lucky enough to not be criminally tried for having trespassed into a restricted area and then punching Hotaru.
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
The world was dark, lit only by a single crescent moon high up above the sprawling wastes. The sand glistened with what little light it could get. A small bright orb appeared, crackling slightly with static charge, and grew larger, until it was big enough to hold a small family. The orb popped, much like a stick of glowing magical dynamite, revealing four silhouettes in in various states of wonder, disorientation, and seething anger. After helping up the one who'd somehow managed to trip over the pile of sand it landed on, the group set off on its mission. A casual bystander would think they'd arbitrarily chosen the direction, but a casual bystander would be dead.
The group kept going, getting held up by a grotesque gate guarding a downward stairway; all had to poke it with a sharp stick at the same time before being admitted. Discarding pretenses at stealth, the group rushed down the stairs, getting to the bottom just as bright lights from above turned on.
Blinking to regain their vision, the group saw their first target lying down, 50 feet away from them, seemingly deep in thought, in a spotlight. The second was off to the side, seemingly resting in a weaker spotlight. As the group walked slightly forwards into the antechamber, the entranceway caved in and a horde of hideous, vile creatures stepped into view. The thinker sneered at the group, waiting to see what they would do, as the sleeper awoke. The sleeper rose, raised its left arm, and extended two fingers.
The person bellowed out the call to charge, causing the steadily-swelling sea of creatures to do just that, running at the group en masse.
Screaming and sitting up, Galm Ingram awoke in a cold sweat. Clutching a pillow to her chest, she rocked back and forth, her voice weak. "Why? Why them?" she sobbed. "Of all things, why did it have to be an army of clowns?!"

Ryu could smell smoke.
He turned to look down the street. Half the village was on fire and he could hear the screams of the other villagers. "Ryu!" someone behind him called. Feeling hands grab him, Ryu looked up to see his father carrying him back to the house.
Once inside his father bolted the door and put Ryu in the closet, trying to hide him from the danger outside. Ryu cracked the closet door slightly to look out. There was pounding on the door, yelling and cursing to get in. The door began to splinter under the barrage. In a matter of minutes four men forced their way into the house. "Stay back!" Father cried as he took an old katana off the wall. The ragged man in front simple laughed at Father as he pulled out his pistol and shot Father in the head. Mother quickly rushed to Fathers side and threw herself on his body, weeping at the sudden loss of her husband. Ryu could do nothing but watch as another man shot his mother in the back.
The men began to move around the room, taking whatever they thought would be of value. One started to walk toward the closet Ryu hid in. Ryu silently picked up a katana that his father kept in there, though he was only five his father had taught him some kendo. The man stopped in front of the door and began to slide it open. As soon as he could fit through, Ryu lunged and pierced the man through the chest. Quickly sliding the sword back out he turned to another man who still had his back to him. This was the one who had killed his father. As Ryu ran toward him the man turned and saw the child, but he wouldn't be able to stop him. Letting out a cry of anger, Ryu raised his sword to kill the man.
Before the sword could fall, Ryu felt a sharp pain in his stomach. He looked down at the point of the sword sticking out of him, the same sword his father had used to try to protect his family. One of the other men had picked it up and stabbed Ryu in the back. The katana Ryu held fell between his fingers as he lost feeling in his hands. The man he was about to kill smiled at him and picked up the sword. "Thanks for that kid" he said as he put the point to Ryu's chest, "since you killed him we don't have to give him his share". With that last comment he grinned at Ryu and pushed.
Ryu awoke violently. He was drenched in sweat and his hands were shaking. He sat up and put his feet on the floor, trying to will the shaking to stop. Even after all these years that nightmare still plagued him, spawned from his inability to protect his parents as they died right in front of him. Finally regaining control over himself, he stood up and began to get dressed. It was still a few hours before morning but he wouldn't be able to get back to sleep. He never could after that dream. After he finished dressing he made his way outside. He needed someplace private to think and he knew just the place.
A few minutes later he was back at the tower were he met Hotaru. It was a good place to be alone and watch the sun rise. Sitting there, Ryu thought back to his dream. It was because of that dream he had decided to become a Shinigami, knowing of no better way to gain the power he needed to protect those he cared about. But there were still times, like now, when his power felt insufficient. Looking out over Seireitei, he repeated the oath he had made to himself on the day he joined the Shinigami Academy. "As long as I hold breath in me, I will not allow those I care for to be hurt. Even if I must die for them to live."
Once again feeling at peace, Ryu sat and waited for the sun to rise.

The Morning sun began its daily trek into the skies above Seireitei. The beams of yellow light pierced every window on the eastern side of soul society, and awoke everyone that it landed on.
"You ready, Tiamat?" Tahoshi asked, getting up. The spirit form of his Zanpakutoh stood in front of him, albeit slightly smaller than its full size. The black coloured dragon stood on its hind legs, watching Tahoshi as he got ready for battle.
"You know that I am as ready as you are. I will give you as much power as I can as soon as you need it." The dragon spoke, turning into mist as Tahoshi sheathed his sword. "I know" he said, "We don't leave people behind." he added, clipping the sheath to his belt, and walking out of the door. Today, He was up for battle. He didn't have his Captains cloak, nor his full uniform, instead he was wearing his vest, knowing that he would have to use Bankai if Juno didn't come back with them quietly.
He made his way to the Spirit Gate, and waited for his team to arrive. Today was the day they invade Hueco Mundo, the world of the Hollow.

"Come ON!" Tahoshi yelled, a small flame appearing in each of his eyes. Tiamat was thirsty for some real battles, and Tahoshi shared that thirst. He turned to face the gate, the large, pearly white gates that looked alot like most people would dream of as the gate to heaven. Instead, Tahoshi had learned to know it as the door to the darkness. The only place he felt at home was here in Seireitei, everywhere else was a fight waiting to happen.
The fighting that had gone on within Seireitei was threatening to destroy that home, to destroy the only place that he didn't need to be constantly on guard.
"Sir?" spoke a young Shinigami, one wearing the white jacket that signified the Kidou Corps, those that were in charge of the Senkaimon, gate between worlds.
"Yes, I want you to open the gate to Hueco Mundo." he said. The message that he had received earlier meant he knew of the kidou corps abilities, they could open a gate to anywhere.
"Sir, we can't do that, not until the whole team is here." the young shinigami replied, receiving nothing but a fiery gaze from the Captain.
"Open it Now." he barked, the flames growing stronger, the need to fight rising in his priorities.
The young shinigami retreated, and began the Kidou to open the gates. The moment the gap between the two doors was large enough, Tahoshi was gone, gone to the darkness.

"Oh SHIT!" Hotaru exclaimed as she hurriedly lept up from her previously peaceful slumber. In her haste and thrashing, she had become rather entangled in her blankets and was soon back on the ground, "Come oooooon...!" Soon she had extracted herself from the mass of bedding and was donning her clothing. "This is such bullshit! It's not like I wanted to stay up that late!" she moaned, punching the wall as she grabbed her Zanpakutoh and flung open her door. Keeping her momentum, she bodychecked the male SO that had been, until recently, peeping on her, the larger man slamming into the wall opposite.
"I know I'm hot," she called back as she ran, skidding around a corner "But now really isn't the time for this~!"
It wasn't long before she came to the gate, albeit rather out of breath.
"Hirako-saan!" breath "I'm" breath "He- ...Sir!" He's not going alone is he? "Hirako-saaan!" she called again, still getting no response. Damn it. He is! With a groan, she urged herself back into a run, grabbing onto his sleeve just as he stepped through. Instead of stopping him, though, Hotaru got pulled along with the Captain, so now instead of one versus the entirety of the Hollow world... it was up to two, and the odds were still not in their favour.

"What the?" Tahoshi said as he appeared on the other side of the gate, with Hotaru in tow. "So you decided to turn up after all..." he said, drawing his broadsword.
"Sir, you can't fight here alone!" she said, but it was too late, the Hollow had smelled them, and were moving in already.
"Just don't get killed." Tahoshi said, raising the small blade above his head. A bright red and orange light surrounded him, as he started to increase his Reiatsu.
"Sear the land, Scorch the Sky!" he yelled, before the final word that settled it all. "BANKAI!"
Hotaru felt herself getting pushed back by the raw spiritual power that was in front of her. She'd never seen a Bankai this close up, nor felt one at this distance. She was almost frozen in awe as the flames erupted all over him, creating the wings and horns that were his Zanpakutoh. He turned to her, and with a slightly lower, growlier voice, he spoke.
"You take the smaller ones, I'll keep the Menos away." he said, before his fiery wings flapped a couple of times, taking him to head-level with the Gillian.
Hotaru gulped, and drew her own Zanpakutoh in preparation of a dangerous battle.

Waking up, the Vice-Captain of 11th squad had one goal in mind: give those idiots from 3rd squad some Hell.
"It's all their idiot captain's fault," she said to herself. "Of course he'd ruin the whole group. Captain Zenai had a pretty good squad going. Not anymore. No self-respecting swordsman would ever use kidou during a fight, especially not one they made themselves. He even saved my life with it. That's just embarrassing. At least I got the chance to turn the rest of the squad on him. Idiot just ran away, transfered into that traitor's squad, he didn't even try to fight us."
Continuing her monologue while getting ready for the morning, Vice-Captain Takeda's train of thought shifted more towards his advancement. "Worse, he actually MADE captain, and he got it before ME!! Then what was the first thing that crazy Russian did? He requested someone who can't even punch someone (never mind stab them) to his squad! How the hell did she get an officer rank at all? There's no way she could've make it that high up, unless she slept with him or something. Wouldn't put it past him, he obviously can't get a hot girl like Kotone so he has to settle for her. She was pathetic at that meeting, though! No cover, almost no zanpakutoh! At least Hotaru stayed standing!"
Precisely that person sprinting by and shouting "shit shit shit I'm late!" while still struggling with her outfit managed to snap Yui out of her rant. Curiosity overcoming her (as well as wanting to see if she could sneak onto the mission and stab stuff), the ribbon user followed as discreetly as she could, forgetting the entire charge-in-and-butcher mentality.
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
It turns out those incompetent fools in the Kidou Corps can actually do something, namely detect a vice-captain stalking an officer. After nearly getting into a fight with every available single member of the Corps, Yui Takeda was escorted away from the gate to Heuco Mondo. Note that "escorted," in this case, means "carried in the air with one person holding each limb until being thrown out like a moldy piece of bread at a picnic."
Brushing the dust off her, the first bright spot of the day appeared, or rather two bright spots. Rikka was walking toward the gate area, trying to comfort Galm, who was shrieking something about someone named Bozo.
"I can't help it! Those pasty faces, those demonic red eyes, the two-foot shoes! They just freak me out!" screeched Yui's least favorite person right as Yui herself walked up with a sneer.
"Captain Tahoshi and Hotaru already left, you know. You're really late. Have fun!" Called the less-than-hospitable Vice-Captain, quickly turning to walk away, cackling beneath her breath.
