Name: Yui "Baka-Chan" Takeda
Gender: Female
Physical Description:
A woman of short stature, Yui measures 5 feet 3 inches (160 cm) from heel to head. Her sparkling, dark brown, narrow eyes match her flawlessly straight hair, which extends just beyond the back of her C-Cup. Considered to be a highly beautiful young woman, the 19-year-old pays for it with intelligence. After all, in the words of the makers of the Crusaders of le Dark Croissant, "Sparkles are pretty, but they sap brain power." Though abysmally toned to the point where they resemble sticks, her muscles are strong enough to fight but small enough to enable greater flexibility. Baka-Chan's lightly tanned skin has a grand total of six freckles on it (all on the arms), and, surprisingly, not a single scar. Others tend to chalk this up as her skin "not knowing how."
Personality: In a word, ditzy. In a sentence, "Like cotton candy: sweet and appetizing, but utterly without substance." She often needs to have things explained step-by-step, and tends to talk before thinking. The two traits, combined with her extremely-literal mindset, are potentially hazardous to one's sanity.
Of course, that's if she likes you. If she doesn't like you and you run into her, she will personally guarantee that you have a miserable day, through a combination of taunts, lies, and sarcasm .
History:
Baka-Chan was born in Nagasaki in 1920. Relying more on instinct than formal training, Ms. Takeda never did well in school, coming out around the bottom six of her secondary school's graduating class and working briefly at a hostess bar. Her father, having permanently hurt his leg in a construction accident years prior, was never allowed to serve with Japan, but, as he only couldn't run, was accepted into the desperate-for-recruits Itaian Air Force (the Aeronautica Nazionale Repubblicana) in 1940. He didn't get a very big chance to prove himself, though; the first battle he ever flew in was the Allied invasion of Sicily, where he got shot down by friendly fire, bailed out, got shot by enemy fire, landed in the water, and got eaten by a shark. Her mother, ill and unable to speak Italian, couldn't find work. Though Yui didn't speak much, either, she knew enough to get a job at a gentleman's club, working as a ribbon-dancer.
Some of the girls she worked with taught her some basic self-defense, figuring that one of her clients would try to have his way with her. To their vast surprise, she absorbed the knowledge like an empty sponge, and was soon proficient with knives and polearms (read: mops). The knowledge was soon put to the test: after one show, as she was walking home, a patron followed her. When she darted down an alley to find something to fend him off with, he still followed her. She couldn't find anything, and tried to fend him off using the very ribbons that got her into that mess. Unfortunately, their weights weren't heavy enough to do shit. She landed some hits on him that could've been lethal with an actual weapon, but instead only made him itch. Eventually, he grew tired of this, and grabbed one of the ribbons, pulling Yui in.
He didn't quite get what he wanted, though; trying to get away, she jumped to the side, smashed her head through a window, and severed her jugular. When her soul regained consciousness, she saw the chain connected to her body, partially in a window. Ironically, it was a police station window, so at least she got to see the perp get the shit beaten out of him by the cops. While he was crying out for his mommy, a shinigami walked up to her. Mistaking him for another attacker, she grabbed for her ribbons...
...And her hand went right through them.
"Am I dead or something?" she asked, causing the shinigami to laugh at how long it took her to figure that out. Seeing him mock her concern, she grew angry, causing the chain to snap, which in turn instantly silenced the shinigami.
"Yes. You're dead, corpsed, stone cold, and utterly devoid of life. It's time for you to go on," he answered, before tapping her on the forehead.
She awoke in the 40th district of North Rukongai, and, three days later, found out exactly where she was and how she got there. By then, she was feeling hungry; not knowing that was unusual, she went to find work, and again ended up as an exotic dancer. Food was scarce in Rukongai, however, as normal souls only needed water. Her hunger would occasionally flare up, causing her stomach to growl, which in turn caused people to stare at her. One day, this occured while she was in the middle of a show; a shinigami was in the crowd, and decided to watch her to see if she could, potentially, enroll in the Academy.
While she was heading home (unaware of their presence), she turned a corner and ran straight into the man who'd gotten her there.
Sneering, he said, "Oh, there you are. I've been looking for you for awhile. That beating the police gave me ruptured a lung and gave me a heart murmur. I choked to death on my own blood. Enough about me, though; let's finish what we started." Making a grab at her shirt, he was rather surprised when she grabbed his arms and swung beneath his legs, was even more surprised when she came up behind him, and was downright shocked when she started beating him into a pulp with the twigs she called arms. When she was out of breath (and the pervert was unconscious), the shinigami made himself known.
Seeing him, Yui freaked out. "Am I dead? Again?" she choked out, remembering the first time she'd seen one.
"No, you're not," said the shinigami, smiling. "Quite the opposite, in fact. Your life is just beginning. Now, you've heard of Seireitei, right?"
"That's the place with the white walls no one's allowed into, right?"
"Yes. You're now allowed into it. Provided, of course, you're willing to become a shinigami." Drawing a vacant stare, he spent the next fifteen minutes explaining what a shinigami was, interrupted only by Baka-Chan punching and sitting on the pervert when he woke back up.
Deciding it'd be worth her while, she accepted his offer, and was quickly accepted. Despite (or because of) her...unorthodox combat style, she also easily got into 11th squad, and easily climbed its ranks, currently holding the rank of Vice Captain.

Zanpakuti Names: Dolore dell'etere (Pain of the Ether), Morte del Mondo (Death of the Planet)
Zanpakuti Nicknames: Dolore e Morte (Pain and Death)
Zanpakutoh Description (Sealed): Wrapped around her navel, Yui's zanpakuti are simply two small-but-sharp weights, connected by a seven-foot-long red-and-white silk ribbon. When held by Baka-Chan, the ribbon becomes translucent, even if she doesn't know what the word means.
Shikai Release Phrase: Dolore dell'etere, morte del mondo: sbiad! [Fade]
Shikai Description: The ribbon extends to its full length, curls around itself and becomes rigid, while the blades become larger and flatter. When all is said and done, it resembles a double Voulge. The structure only has form where Yui wants it to, allowing her to literally slip through an opponent's block while stopping the counterattack. Where her shikai has form, it is translucent, and therefore still difficult to see; where it doesn't, it's completely invisible.
Bankai Release Phrase: None.
Bankai Description: None.
